What to Wear for a Reiki Session?

If you’re preparing for your first Reiki session, you might be wondering what to wear. The beauty of Reiki is that it’s a deeply relaxing, noninvasive healing practice that doesn’t require any special attire—just your willingness to receive. However, what you wear can enhance your comfort and help you fully immerse yourself in the experience. Here’s what to keep in mind when dressing for your session.

Comfort is Key

Reiki is all about relaxation, so wearing loose, comfortable clothing is best. Think of it as dressing for a cozy day at home or a gentle yoga session. Soft fabrics like cotton, linen, or breathable materials allow your body to relax fully.

Avoid Restrictive Clothing

Tight jeans, shapewear, or anything with a snug waistband can be distracting. Since you'll be lying down for most of the session, unrestricted movement and deep breathing are important.

Layers for Temperature Comfort

Energy work can sometimes make you feel warm or cool depending on how your body responds. Consider wearing layers, such as a light sweater or a cozy shawl, that you can remove or adjust as needed.

Minimal Jewelry & Accessories

While you don’t have to remove your jewelry, it’s best to keep accessories to a minimum. Chunky bracelets, large earrings, or heavy necklaces can get in the way of your relaxation. If you wear crystals, you might opt for a small one in your pocket or under your pillow during the session instead.

Natural Fabrics & Soft Colors

Some clients find that wearing natural fibers, like cotton or bamboo, helps them feel more connected to the experience. Soft, calming colors—like pastels, earth tones, or white—can also subtly enhance the soothing energy of the session.

Come as You Are

Above all, Reiki is a practice of healing and balance. Whether you come straight from work or dressed in your favorite lounge set, the most important thing is that you feel at ease.

Your Reiki session is a time to let go, relax, and allow your energy to flow freely. By wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing and minimal accessories, you create the perfect space to receive the full benefits of the healing energy.
